5 Months!

You turned 5 months while we were in South Dakota, so naturally your 5 month photo was taken with your papa :)

Earthquake

Last night around 9:45 there was a small 3.2 magnitude earthquake, with the epicenter in Powhatan County, not too far from our new house.  Mommy was in bed and felt all the windows rattle and the bed shake.  It sounded like a train off in the distance, a low rumble.  You slept right through it, not a peep.  Such a good sleeper :)

Almost 5 months and your first solid foods

For the last couple of weeks you have been really, really interested in the food mommy and daddy have been eating. You are sitting up with assistance and holding your head steady, so we decided to give solid foods a go. Armed with the baby food cookbook grammy gave me at your shower I made you sweet potatoes tonight--roasted, pureed, and thinned with breast milk.  We sat you in the bumbo with a bib and daddy fed you your first bites. You opened your mouth and took them right from the spoon on the first go. Your first bite went in good, on your second you made a slight face. All in all you ate about 5 or 6 bites.  You managed to get taters all over you and your clothes. So promptly after your first meal you headed to the bath ;)  We will probably try rice cereal tomorrow morning. You are getting so big!!

Hungry Cry

When you were a tiny baby you had a very distinct "wah, wah, wah" hungry cry. I used to joke it sounds like you were saying "mahhhh mahhhh mahhhhh" like a new yorker say "ma" or "mom."  Like you were calling for me specifically :) It was very distinct from your loud screams which meant your were tired or in pain (aka you bit your finger while munching on it).  I just realized today that I have not heard your hungry cry in about two weeks...you seem to have out grown it.  You are growing up sooo fast!
